The simplicity and elegance which have made Bishop's
internationally famous are reflected throughout the renowned restaurateur's first cookbook
.

"Bishop's Restaurant is a small but very special place that has been Vancouver's best restaurant for over ten years. It is the place to go for movie stars, heads of state and legions of food lovers who appreciate consistently wonderful food made with the freshest local ingredients. Now the recipes that have made this restaurant famous are available to recreate at home.

Presenting over 100 favourites in every category; salads, hot and cold starters, breads, shellfish, fish, meat, poultry, vegetables, pastas and other starches, and desserts, the cookbook includes basic stocks, sauces and preserves. The easy-to-follow directions will help less experienced cooks, while there are inspiring new ideas for accomplished cooks. Along the way, there are tips on varieties of fruits and vegatables that work best for particular recipes, tips on cooking techniques, serving and presentation suggestions, and wine notes from John Bishop.

JOHN BISHOP was born in Wales and has loved cooking since he was a child. After studying at a hotel school, he worked as a chef around Great Britain. In 1972 he moved to Vancouver, where he became head chef and later maitre d' at Umberto's. His restaurant has consistently won top ratings in all respected North American guides.
